In 1977, the founding partners, Ken Neumann, J.C. Delorme, Arnold Schmidt and William (Bill) Fuhl, Left their employer and started their own business with over 100 years of combined experience. Originally located 333 Archibald Street, Able moved to their present location at 21 Dawson Road North in the industrial area of St. Boniface in 1981.

Unfortunately, in the fall of 1984, the partnership was reduced to three after the passing of Bill Fuhl.

However, the company continued to grow and in 1987, all of Simmons rentals cranes where bought which almost doubled the existing fleet. In 1989, Able purchased Brandon Crane Rentals in Brandon, Manitoba so as to better service the needs of customers in the Western, Manitoba.

Although an economic slowdown persisted until nearly the mid 1990's, Able continued upgrading it's fleet slowly. A construction boom hit Manitoba between 1996 and 1998, Able was well positioned to take advantage of the upswing. Able also purchased three new boomtrucks, five new rough-terrain cranes, and a new mobile crane.

Able now has the largest crane fleet in Manitoba with rough terrain cranes ranging in size from 14T to 75T with 51'to 172' of Boom with maximum tip height of 182', mobile hydraulic cranes ranging in size from 18T to 75T with 70' to 202' of boom and maximum tip height of 204', and conventional mobile cranes from 30T to 185T with boom up to 350'.

Currently, able is constructing a new shop and office for the maintenance and administrative needs of the future. For any hoisting or heavy machinery job in and around Manitoba, give us call, because we are ABLE.
